WEC- Consult is a small civil engineering company where I initially completed my month-long vacation training and was then offered a job after completing my degree.
The job is fully in-person and I have been personally mentored and exposed to many aspects of civil engineering. I have been given more responsibility than I would have been in a larger company. This has allowed me to gain valuable experience.
I am responsible for report writing (design, technical and adjudication), drawings (for all project phases), tender and bid documents, attending site meetings, bending schedules and payment certificates.

My favourite sport is kitesurfing, however this is very weather dependent so when the wind is not strong enough, I enjoy surfing, hiking and trail running. I grew up in a family with a sailing background but since I started kitesurfing, I do not have much time to sail anymore. I joined the Stellenbosch University Rock Climbing Club while studying which I still participate in since graduating.
In the holidays, I enjoy camping and diving. I have a passion for animals so during my free time I volunteer at the animal shelter. I am fortunate enough to have two beehives at home, from which I enjoy collecting honey. During lockdown, I discovered my passion for painting flowers and wild animals but I am more an outdoors person.
