Yearsley logistics group is arguably one of UK biggest cold chain storage company with 13 depots and currently holds the cold chain picking/storage/deliveries contract nationwide for ALDI and have top class customers in the cold chain business.

My responsibilities are follows:

Managing the general night operation; Staffing for night operation; Ensuring delivery business to business are achieved  and Operational KPIs are met.

Conducting staff disciplinary meetings; Ensuring the shift stays within its budget and finding way to cost save; Conducting investigations on accidents and incidents in accordance with health and safety policy; Implementing procedures that enables the operation run smarter and better.

 

April 2011 – Dec 2012
DA Group – (Self Employed)

DA Group was founded as a logistics company on Kandahar Airbase as initially a joint venture with A to Z Co Ltd an Afghanistan Based Company on contract with the US Army. This was basically a short-term project purposely to aid the draw down in Afghanistan.

Planning and coordinating the successful execution of short logistics contracts such as the following:  Helping other companies/contractors establish the correct and efficient operations on the NATO/ISAF bases; Assisting with cargo aircraft charter for cargo movements internationally and inter Afghanistan; Advising contractors on effective and best practice logistics across the spectrum of Afghanistan; Planning, coordinating and managing road transportation for NATO/ISAF civilian contractors within Afghanistan.

Achievements:
Won a sub-contract to prepare unmanned area vehicles (UAVs) belonging to the Canadian Army under their Redeployment Phase with MDA ISR projects/ATCO Frontec Europe.The contract was well executed, on target and within budget and resulted in a successful Redeployment.

ATCO Frontec Europe
Ramp/Teams Supervisor

Staff managed: 18 direct reports Atco Frontec Europe is a Canadian company contracted by NATO in Afghanistan as their force sustainment contractor. This contract was offered as a short due to ATCO Airfield Ops losing the contract to KBR UK.  There was a requirement for a staff to help with the 3-month transition till KBR UK was fully operational.

Working in partnership with their aviation-handling department on Kandahar airbase with 3 months remaining on contract. Supervised and coordinated various teams for download/upload of NATO aircrafts arriving at Kandahar military airfield; Administrative responsibility for all cargo manifests and load conformity with ISAF/Aircraft and local customs regulations.

Achievements: Ensured transition over the 3 month period went smoothly with no disruption to operations.

 

Dec 2009 – Nov 2010
DHL Int. Middle East (Afghanistan) Station supervisor/Manager (Bagram Airbase)

Staff Managed: 26 (20 direct reports 6 indirect reports).

DHL is the world’s largest logistics company with branches in over 220 countries and territories world wide. In Afghanistan, the company has a contract with the Unites States department of defence to support certain aspects of the entire logistics operations.

Managing complete logistical support to ensure the smooth operation of inbound /outbound services; Planning and implementation of facility and process improvement/development initiatives; Managed the pickup and delivery process through allocation of couriers and resource.

Monitored the safe handling of aircraft and the loading and unloading of shipments; Ensured the timely provision of all reports required by Finance, USPS, AVI and senior management; Staff reporting and control of resources in accordance with the needs of the business; Controlling the workforce to minimize loss of time within working capital and operating budgets; Meeting compliance and adherence to local Quality Management systems in place; Managed Company SOPs and agreed customer specific KPIs and reports; Provided leadership and role model in accordance with DP DHL values and behaviours; Identifying training and development needs for service station adhering to current Company Training policy; Ensuring all service station personnel and sub contractors are fully competent in the execution of task; Conducted regular performance reviews with personnel to manage individual development.
