EMPLOYMENT AND EXPERIENCE

Jun 2014 Design Engineer
ERODEX, Birmingham

The projects I have been involved with centre around designing a set of tools for casting components to be converted into final machined parts (e.g. blade, vane) which were received from Rolls Royce, SIEMENS and TRAC using CAD software (Siemens NX 9.0). The tooling set design includes: Grinding, Electrode, EDM, Drilling, Milling, Laser, CMM and Welding fixtures as well as gauges such as: Sight gauge, Clock gauge, Go-No Go gauge, and Depth gauge. I was involved in liaising directly with the design manager and was responsible for delivering the various projects on time and to tight deadlines. I was also extensively involved in quality control procedures and checking the final fixture assemblies after manufacturing for quality.

I was also involved in projects involving stress analysis (hand calculation) tasks for lifting equipment received from Hydro Ltd. This entailed preparing documents and reports such as Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Manufacturing Detailing Report (MDR), OMSD Documentation, stress analysis reports, PUWER Documentation, and Risk Assessment Reports for Hydro projects.

And finally, I was involved in a project for McLaren car Company as part of a design team. The project was to design a sight gauge for the whole perimeter edge of the manufactured car roof.

May 2012 – June 2014 Design Engineer
TRAC Tooling Engineering Ltd, Birmingham

As a Design Engineer I was involved in many tooling projects, particularly fixture tooling. The tooling set project was received mainly from Rolls Royce, Snecma, and Alstom using CAD software (Siemens NX 9.0). The project set included EDM fixture, grinding fixture, Electrode design, CMM fixture, Welding fixture, inspection fixture, etc.

For each project I was involved in concept creation (sketching and rough 3D model of the concept) through to detail drawing, checking the manufacturing drawings, final assembly and manufacturing.

July 2010 – February 2012
3D CAD Designer
WINTECH Facade Engineering Ltd, Birmingham

I was involved in major, high profile facade engineering projects as part of a team, finishing and delivering the projects to clients according to plan and to tight deadlines. Successful completion of the projects subsequently brought hundreds of thousands of profit to the companies involved and involved considerable public exposure and promotion.

Creating elevation, plan, section details, location & manufacturing drawings for Timber Cladding, Aluminium & Timber Windows, Aluminium Curtain Wall using AutoCAD 2011

BSkyB wind turbine project: As part of a team I designed complex sheet metal panels with CATIA (Surface design) and analyzed the complex panels with CATIA Generative structural analysis. These panels were manufactured and assembled around wind turbines according to client’s architecture plan.

Dundee Swimming Pool project: As part of a team I designed 3D models of Bullnose and soffit components models in SolidWorks from concept to manufacturing stage. These panels were assembled around the roof edge of the swimming pool.

Big Yellow Box Storage project: As part of a team I designed 3D models of Bullnose and soffit components from concept to manufacturing stage. These panels were assembled around the roof edge of the Big Yellow Box Storage.

Villamar project: As part of a team I designed 3D models of door frames and created manufacturing drawing details in SolidWorks for manufacturing.

Beetham London project (Blackfriars): As part of team roof guiding profiles were created in SolidWorks and a model of a building roof was created in CATIA.
