Experience Summary

(1) JULY-SEPTEMBER 2010:
INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE (On Internship) IN THE ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT OF CDC- MUKONJE RUBBER ESTATE.

Duties and Tasks carried out:

Stores Department: daily stock taking, issues of materials requested by estates, sales of materials purchased by contractors, process documents for local store purchases, process documents for group store material requisition, update individual stock bin cards for materials issued to receive and monitor stock level (maximum, minimum and reorder level)

Stock Ledger Department: Costing and updating stock ledger cards from materials issued, purchased and received from group rubber store. Process stock variation for material issues in the accounting system.

Payroll Department: Keying daily hours work in the payroll system from job reports, calculation of leave allowances, keying of overtime hours worked, keying of deductions (oil ration, medical issues, club debtors, credit union and insurance), updating transfer workers pay particulars, perform payroll reconciliation, printing payslips and payroll returns.

Central Accounting Unit: Treatment of outgoing and incoming bills, Purchase Day Book (PDB) preparation, conducting stock taking, preparing stock sheets and certificate, journalizing transactions such as (depreciation, unclaimed wages, account balances, medical consultation, capitalization and general apportionment, club and oil ration, family allowance, air time allowance , loss of meal allowance, etc), prepare and journalize expense advance issues, prepare monthly reports ( ledger accounts, stock certificate, current account, cash flow statement, Trial balance, preparing: profit and loss account, balance sheet, monthly Taxation summary)

September 2011 to November 2013:
Acting Accounting Officer and Teacher in Cameroon Education Corporation (CEC) – NGO, Buea

Duties and Tasks carried out:

– Prepare yearly budgets with Principals, follow execution of budgets and prepare budget accounts

– Audit the accounts of the Bursar for school fees collection and cashier for expenditure payments

– Audit the accounts of the Tele-Shop and Documentation. Also carry out routine inventory control and update in the system

• Supervision, coaching and job allocation to other staff

• Develop, maintain, and analyze weekly budgets for the bar and kitchen, preparing periodic reports that compares budgeted costs/revenue to actual costs/revenue.

• Daily stock taking in the store, bar and kitchen and entries into the appropriate ledgers and system

• Approve purchase requisitions following established budgets for the bar and kitchen

• Daily cash situation received from bar sales, kitchen sales and from members’ subscription and update in the appropriate ledgers and system

• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general journal entries and excel spread sheets

• Prepare and review monthly payroll entries. Calculate and declare Payroll Taxes and Staff monthly Social Insurance.

• Prepare all petty cash payments with proper documents and maintain all payment within the approved limit;

• Manual posting of all executed transactions into their various ledgers including: Bar Sales ledger, Kitchen Sales Ledger, Subscription Ledger, Credit Ledger, Bank Ledger, Bills Ledger and Repairs/Maintenance Works Ledger and other Expenses Ledger

• Production of a statutory based set of management financial accounts: Income and expenditure accounts, bank reconciliations, subscription situation, budget statements and members’ accounts receivables situation.

• Working with the Caretaker Committee Auditor and Treasurer to ensure the Club receives a clean audit report.

• Ensure that key financial processes are properly documented and updated and reviewed regularly with a view to achieving improvements and efficiencies.
