Project
“A NOVAL APPROACH TO POWER THEFT DETECTION AND RECORDING IN POWER DISTRIBUTION STATIONS”
My project is about finding the power being theft illegally from power distribution stations and other sorts of power distribution systems. In my project, I have implemented PIC Microcontroller and ZIGBEE in energy meters and also in distribution transformers. These meters record the load current that is being consumed by the user. When there is illegal power consumption in the power distribution stations, the PIC microcontroller compares the difference between the load currents that is being supplied from the power station and consumed by the consumer and there-by identifies the miss-match in load and identifies the region where theft is being carried out within seconds. I have also used GSM modem to give information to the electrical line man during illegal power consumptions. There-by minimizing the illegal consumption of power. This zigbee meters can transmit signals up to 15 to 20kms when used with long range frequency systems. This project is less expensive and more efficient.
