Duties: Returned to Repsol Oil Ltd., under the same Job title and position. The working responsibilities remain the same. However, more commissioning was undertaken due to the Power Generation system which was upgraded from the ABB AC450 Control system to AC800xA. This included equipment and control network upgrade of which I was involved in the FEED and overseen the EPC of the project.

Duties: As part of the BP/ABB Valhall Re-development Project team, mainly concerned with SAS (Safety and Automation System) of the ESD and Fire/Gas upgrade on Green Field locations. This upgrade is done using the SafeGuard 400™ control system. Also responsible for the generation of work-packs and documentation defined by the NORSOK standard.

Commissioning of Nuevo Pignone Gas Compressors using GE Fenuc HMI and PLC’s.

Integrating the GE Mark VI to the Ovation DCS system. Additional work to incorporate Boiler and Steam Turbines. Total power output in the region of 300 MW.

Duties: Reconfiguring the existing WDPF II DCS to customer’s requirements. Involved modifications to the original design with additional work specified by Black and Veach. Plant consisted of two SOLAR Turbines (Taurus) and two Auxiliary boilers, supplying power to the University California, San Francisco.
Westinghouse WDPF II 8.6 on the SOLARIS 2.5 platform.

The IDOL (Intelligent DDC Oriented Language) maintenance tool, which is part of the MIDAS system, enables me to monitor and reconfigure the control logic and its parameters. Training of the local C & I Engineers is also in my scope of work.

Liaison with vendors on current and future design changes. Dynamic tuning of control loops using methods based on the ‘Ziegler-Nochols Criteria’. Configuration of Allen Bradley PLC’s to the DCS.
