Profile

I am a hard working fully skilled CNC Mill/Turner. In the nine years that I’ve worked in engineering I have worked on a wide variety of machines. I have worked in a busy inspection department and have experience of tooling management and planning of component manufacture.

I am a fully competent CNC Programmer on Fanuc control with good experience of exotic metals tight tolerances and CAD software (Edgecam and AutoCad) I am now currently living in Bournemouth and am looking for a permanent position within a company where I can use my skills to the best of my ability.

Career History

October 2012 – present date
Bowmill Engineering (Poole)

(CNC Programmer/Setter/Operator)

I am currently working at Bowmill Engineering where I program, set and operate two machines, as well as have full responsibility of an apprentice and his machine. I have enjoyed returning to the company where I spent the majority of my apprenticeship. I now produce some of the most complex components made at Bowmill and generally produce most of the new components on a mill/turn machine.

March 2012 – October 2012
Fishponds Precision (Bristol)

(CNC Programmer/Setter/Operator)

During this time I was working at a small toolmakers company where I was a CNC Turner operating competently on my own as the only CNC programmer. I have had the opportunity to further my programming knowledge manufacturing bespoke components, for a range of industries. I was also responsible for a first year apprentice who I spent a lot of time with. I have enjoyed passing on what knowledge I have gained in my career to someone else.

December 2011 – March 2012
Redcliffe Precision (Bristol)

(CNC Programmer/Setter/Operator)

At Redcliffe Precision I was working on a CNC Mill/turn machine, writing programs for others as well as myself, for the formula one industry. During my time at Redcliffe I set up a system for program management. This system is still used today and was to improve the cost efficiency and set-up times for manufacture.

August 2011 – December 2011
Smit BV (Utrecht, Holland)

(CNC Programmer/Setter)

In August 2011 I worked abroad in Holland, contracting as a CNC programmer. I was working in a team to program and tool up a project of components for an assembly. This was my biggest challenge so far, I gained knowledge on cost efficient tooling and tooling management. I also had to learn basic engineering terms in Dutch. I successfully completed on time and went on to do a bit of travelling of Europe.

June 2008 – August 2011
Bowmill Engineering (Poole, Dorset)

(CNC Programmer/Setter/Operator)

When I passed my apprenticeship I went onto a CNC mill/turn machine where I was a Programmer/setter/operator. My main responsibility was to make parts for the landing gear of the Airbus A330. I also worked in a small team and our task was to produce a plan for manufacture of components for the Eurofighter Jet. My main task was to program some of the components and to provide a tooling system for all of the components in the assembly.

At Bowmill I gained valuable knowledge on 5C, which was a system put in place to improve the cost efficiency of a company. I had first hand experience of how this transformed a business into a well-run high production company.

During my time at Bowmill I also worked in the inspection department where I was sent away on a course to learn how to use a CMM Machine (precise measuring system) I was responsible for first off checks before the components are continued in manufacture.

July 2005 – June 2008
Walker AEC (Poole, Dorset)

(Apprentice)

During my time as an apprentice I worked on a wide variety of machines. In my first two years I worked on conventional mills and lathes as well as grinding and honing machines. I then worked on CNC Milling/Turning machines. After my apprenticeship I was a competent setter operator for both CNC mills and CNC lathes. I was involved in a lot of programming of complex aerospace components. I also gained good experience in exotic materials and tight tolerances.
