Professional Experience

IT Security Analyst, FNB ISS – Secondment
May 2015 – Current

• Analyse information security test results and report on recommendations to rectify any vulnerabilities identified and ensure compliance to security standards within the business unit and within the organisation.

• Comply, understand and implement all steps for the IT Information Security Processes and Procedures and meet governance in terms of legislative and audit requirements.

• Perform functional and technical test analysis and testing (including regression) on security specific projects, incidents and work requests to identify significant risks during the software development test cycle and implement controls to mitigate these risks.

• Consult to projects in terms of identifying risks, vulnerabilities and controls for new developments by researching and understanding security best practices and implementation of security products in a corporate environment.

• Assist with Risk Assessments, compliance and control reviews for IT.

• Monitor audit logs for system and network anomalies, currently doing this process manually by Analysing the checkpoint and proxy reports.

• Review policies and recommend changes

• Review antivirus and other system configurations if required, and make recommendations.

• Investigate and/or escalate security violations such as attempts to gain unauthorised access and virus infections that may affect the network including any other event affecting security

• Assist in providing analysis, design and support for applications, databases, and operating systems.

• Assist with resolving escalated CSIRTs and document the resolutions for operational hand-over.

• Oversee DR and BCP initiatives from a risk perspective

• Support the development of security guidelines, standards, policies and procedures and disseminate to technology teams.

• Continually monitor, analyse and review the effectiveness and efficiency of security operations services to identify and prioritise opportunities for improving the delivery of infrastructure service offerings.
