Confidently leads the provision of access and scaffolding on highly regulated and complex installations for the nuclear, power generation, Refinery, and pharmaceutical industries. With a team in place and a contract in deficit, spent 3 days analysing the contract, identifying gaps and inconsistencies. Delivered a highly successful core team of 30 and 120 in total in an accident free environment: 1.2 million man hours. Project now valued at £15m from £8m.

Sheffield University: refit of 3,000 windows, with impeded access over glass atrium, help design a hung fixed access to each floor, whilst managing 6 other sites from north to south east of country. Delivered to customer requirement. £6M pa turnover.

Project Planning and Control – Applies solution focused approach. With a client unable to provide a project programme, identified the requirement and designed it for the client. Controlled workforce, appointed own team of 50+, and ordered materials to arrive on time and to budget and kept continuity with core crew. Turned around the project achieving a high return: 14%. Client praised the effort and result and gained a smoothly running project.

Problem-solving – Innovative and inventive, researching new methods to achieve a safe working environment. Developed a safe access system to protect 3,000 staff whilst building access to move heavy plant. Designed and introduced a restricted access tag. Established an efficient signing in system. Conduct audits and inspections to monitor and improve safe working practice. Client utilised it alongside the main contractor and rolled it out across all sites. Received an award for Health and Safety Innovation.

 

Career Experience

2010 – Present
SCR Access Manager, Kaefer C&D Ltd., Nottinghamshire

Led access provision on this landmark project. Co-ordinated across all trade disciplines, taking a loss making project through a business transformation and turned it around to profit. Worked on raising commercial awareness in all staff to control waste and efficiency as well as instilling pride and engagement with the task in hand.

Key Achievements:

• Led the Ratcliffe Power Station SCR Project involving insulation of a Selective Catalyst reduction (SCR); the first SCR to be constructed within the UK on a Coal Fired Boiler

• Managed a team of up to 120 with 5 direct supervisors. Monitored performance, advising and guiding where necessary

• Efficiently introduced paper trails to ensure each work aspect was accountable

• Managed Safety, Quality and Environmental policy requirement ensuring team compliance with regulations. Carried out induction training for new or transferred employees

• Ensured all dangerous occurrences, pollution or environmental quality incidences were reported and investigated. As a result of developing strong, robust processes achieved a zero recorded accident project

• Organised and monitored training plans, managing 2 apprentices

• Liaised directly with client and conducted and recorded quality audits

• Delivered reports weekly to Operations Director, co-ordinated scaffold design engineers

• Resolved issues resulting from a lack of a programme. Negotiated a work schedule and delivered to quality standard

• Provided access services for sites: BP Saltend Refinery, Lindsey Oil Refinery, Westfield Derby and Sheffield Incinerators

• Successfully oversaw 120 members across sites throughout the country

• Played a focal role in running a major contract with in an area/region. East Yorkshire sub-stations 400+ employees

• Allocated responsibilities to sub-contractors and others regarding the most appropriate order and method of working

• Ensured 95% of all projects managed were well within budget

• Implemented requisite measures to expand client base. Brought in additional £1M project

• Successfully managed a £1.2M worth project from first contact to end and on budget
