Profile

Carike Terblanche matriculated from Cornwall Hill College, an IEB school in Pretoria, Gauteng. She had a B average and a distinction in Afrikaans. In grade 9 and 10 she was top ten in her grade and was the top achiever for Life Orientation.

Her first year of university she attended University of Johannesburg and was recognised as one of the top achievers. She had an A average and then decided to transfer to Stellenbosch University. She graduated with a B.Com cum laude in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management in December 2014, and was recognised as one of the top three students in Corporate Social Responsibility. She is currently completing her honours in Strategy and Innovation Management.

Carike Terblanche is described as a person who is determined, focused, hard-working, friendly, kind, passionate, trustworthy, organised and creative. She enjoys overcoming challenges and learning from her experiences. She is always eager to try new things and benefits from the skills she gains. She is currently part of the kids’ ministry team at her church, Newgen, in Stellenbosch where she is able to use her skills she gained from playing with children at an orphanage during her high school career.

For 10 years she dedicated her life to swimming; she was focused on becoming the next Penny Heyns of South Africa. She had a successful career and is proud of her achievements.

Achievements

Carike Terblanche swam for South Africa in the Zone 6 games in 2010 and participated in the 2012 Olympic trials. She received the ‘Top Swimmer’ award every year for 6 years at her school. She was swimming captain in grade 7 and matric. She is currently part of the Maties Ultimate Frisbee team

Carike was part of the Senior Executive Council in matric and was head of the sport portfolio. The Senior Executive Council was seen as the prefects/leaders of the matric group. She received junior and senior colours for her swimming achievements. She was a peer tutor in grade 11 and matric. She was class representative in her third year Creative and Innovation management class. In 2014, Carike was recognised as one of the top 15% in her year, thus she qualified to be a Golden Key member.

Work Experience

Student Vacation W EON Consulting
(June 2012, 2013)

EON Consulting offers engineering and management consulting for predominantly energy and power clients including but not limited to Eskom and City Power. EON is one of the largest power engineering management consulting firms in South Africa. EON also serves in other sectors including mining, transport, telecommunications, and infrastructure. During her time at the company, she assisted the business development consultants and financial management team. She arranged, with the marketing manager, various events EON hosted for clients. Carike expanded on her practical understanding of business.

Carike worked as a learn-to-swim instructor focused on children between the ages of 3 and 9.

In matric, Carike Terblanche as a Senior Executive Council member assisted the waiters; all the money they made went to charity.
