Profile

My professional career has always been based around the construction industry from leaving High School, starting out working for Network Rail in track maintenance, work consisted of track maintenance and bridge repair throughout the country, this work also extended to the London Underground Infrastructure, which included similar tasks to fund my search for an apprenticeship.

Once I obtained my career with Shepherd Engineering Services, the first year of my electrical apprenticeship included me winning the Jack Place Memorial Shield in recognition of my performance and exam results, I later completed the full four year apprenticeship in Electrotechnical Building Services, after completing my apprenticeship I worked as an Electrician on various Construction sites throughout the country, during these years I obtained various qualifications in Health and Safety awareness, Testing and Inspection of Electrical Systems and High Access Machinery licences.

I continued my education while working part time management and site staff, to gain a HNC in Building Services, graduating at the top off my class, and successfully continued to complete the HND level in Building Services, I have continued this route of education, to further my knowledge not only electrically, but also in the mechanical aspects and strategies of Project management in Building Services.

My duties during this period included being placed on site as an Electrical Charge-hand, running operations with the site supervisors and engineers, this work has involved office administration, planning, compiling site take offs, setting work for the site operatives and working with sub-contractors, obtaining progress reports and assisting in problem solving.

Upon completion of my courses and a lack of work due to recession in the company I was approached by several companies for placement and decided to take the role of Southern Divisional Project Manager at Management 4 Projects Ltd.

My role extended nationwide involving all aspects of Management, Consultation, Designing, Planning, Labour Structuring, Client Liaison, Job Pricing and Surveying, while my focus was based on my Projects in London (as detailed below) my work placed me all over the UK, covering Full interior Refurbishments, Building Services Maintenance and Upgrading, Ground Works, Progress Reporting and Final Handover Processes.

More recently I have completed a 3 month backpack tour of South East Asia, the opportunity arose for me to travel, I am now looking for a placement with a thriving company.

Career History

January 2004 – 2006
Vital Rail/Reynolds Rail

Upon leaving high school I completed the courses for Health and Safety Awareness and the Personal Track Safety courses for access to site, after completion I worked throughout the country carrying out track maintenance on National Rail Routes, Service stations and Train Stations, work also included the London Underground System.

Work Undertaken – Work often consisted of removal and renewal of damaged or worn materials, consisting of heavy lifting, digging, vegetation removal and labouring for builders.

January 2006 – May 2014
Shepherd Engineering Services (SES)

I joined SES in October 2006 as an electrical apprentice working on various construction projects throughout the country, including Hospitals, Schools and Library’s, throughout my career I have gained much experience in the design, planning and installation of electrical services, including assisting in the aspects of mechanical install and practise.

My apprenticeship was obtained from The Leeds College of Building, where I obtained the full criteria of electrical understanding, education consisted of Health and Safety awareness, Electrical systems and Electrical Theory, in recognition of my efforts I received the electrical apprentice of the year award for Yorkshire, which was presented to me by the National Chief of the Apprenticeship Association and the Mayor of Leeds.

Since completing my apprenticeship I have been given my own sections of projects to run and organise, supervising site operatives and the installation of electrical services, tasks have also included working with the higher levels of supervision, office administration and management.

I have numerously been involved in the installation and testing of large scale plant areas and switch rooms, gaining experience in testing and inspection, which has resulted in me obtaining my approved electrician status.

While working on the Liverpool Central library Project I had been appointed the site Health and Safety representative for SES, in which I consulted the employees and sub-contractors about the site aspects of safety, raising issues of safety awareness in site meetings with the main contractor management, upon effectively carrying out this role, my Regional Director confronted me, encouraging that I inquire about higher training in building services, this lead me to starting the HNC course, where I have gain knowledge on all aspects of building services, including, Air Conditioning, Electrical Sciences, Complex Mathematics, Mechanical Services, Project Management, Energy Efficiency, Health and Safety, as well as being the Project Manager for my groups final assessment, in which we fully designed and complied an appraisal for the refurbishment of the college, This success in the HNC has led to SES wanting me to continue on to the Higher National Diploma.

Throughout the course of my Higher Education, I have continued working on site, while working overtime in the offices to gain extra supervisory experience.

May 2014 – June 2015
Management for Projects Ltd.(M4P.Ltd)

During the course of my employment being placed in Stockport, Manchester, my position was Southern Divisional Project Manager, which involved a lot of travel and staying away from home, this has never been a problem as I have always been aware this is the nature of our industries.

While playing the role of Electrical Engineer on the EasyJet Hotel Project in East Croydon, roles focused on Design, progress reporting, labour management and Client liaison, however throughout my employment a large portion of my projects was based around my largest client, The Jewish Care housing and Community Charity, work involved all aspects of Refurbishments and Building upgrading, which extended but not limited to, Design, Meeting Structuring and Chairing, Ground Works, Decoration, Bathroom and Kitchen fit outs, Electrical and Mechanical upgrades or Maintenance, Site Management, Working alongside HSE Representatives and implementing HSE Standards and procedures.

While I maintained as persistent presence on site as possible, I also conducted my emails and correspondence while traveling between sites via satellite offices or from my base back in Manchester, I feel that the success I had with my clients, came through the consideration I gave the Phases of works and processes being undertaken, being available, present and responsive to the ever changing requirements and specific needs of the client, specifically as these were all active Public and Residential Premises.

The nature of the bulk of my work was based in large Care Homes in the vast North London area, catering for persons with severe disability and mental illness, while my focus was based around delivering projects effectively and on time, I also had to be aware of the various religious practises of the establishments, accommodating for my clients, the managers of the active sites and their residents.

Although the bulk of the work was based in North London, the role extended across the country, Inspecting and Surveying Sites Nationwide, for Progress Reporting, Pricing and Client Liason, which I am more than willing to expand on if required.

I found my strengths built on and gain during this time were based around Higher tier Management skills, Interpersonal and Professional Communication skills which in return lead to future works and contracts across the board for the Jewish Community and External associated contacts.
