The work undertaken is largely for commercial customers, who carried out their own installations. Main items include doors, windows, cabinetry, and staircases. I handle all elements of the manufacture process, which include:
• Client interface, including design input
• Estimating
• Planning the manufacture based on material requirement and time scale requirement,
• Labour resource and time management
• Preparing cutting lists and other detailed information for the bench joiners
• Procurement of all materials – predominantly sheet materials (melamine, veneer, laminates and worktops) and solid timber planks, but also pvc edging material, solid surface tops and any hardware requirements and fixings
• Oversee the construction process
• Arrange for delivery to site for installation by others

ROLE – Owner/Director of bespoke joinery manufacturer – I handled all elements of high end domestic bespoke joinery installations, and commercial joinery manufacture:
Domestic work
• Client interface, design and presentation, including costings and material selection. Advise clients on appliance choice
• Full site survey prior to manufacture
• Setting out of rods ready for manufacture, and where applicable, making cutting lists
• Procurement of all materials – this would range from sheet materials (melamines, veneers, plywoods, laminates), to solid timber (tulip, oak, walnut, maple etc) as well as hardware, hinges, drawer runners, glues and adhesives, fittings and fixings
• Oversee the construction process from a quality control and time scale viewpoint
• Manage the installation process, including liaison with client and co-ordination with other trades – electricians, plumbers etc
• Client sign off
• Projects were typically kitchens, but also included wardrobes, studies and libraries, plan chests, tables, other furniture items as well as joinery items such as doors/door frames and windows
• Familiar with most if not all joinery techniques – dovetailing, mortice and tenon joints, use of a spindle moulder, biscuits, laminating and bonding etc.
• Clients included Lord March at Goodwood House, RW Armstrong & Sons, EA Chiverton as well as numerous private clients.
Commercial work
• Client interface, including costings and, where necessary, material selection.

• Prepare cutting lists and source all materials required – this would range from sheet materials (melamines, veneers, plywoods, laminates), to solid timber and pvc edgings, as well as hinges, drawer runners, glues and adhesives and other fittings and fixings as required
• Oversee the construction process from a quality control and time scale viewpoint
• Arrange delivery to site for installation by others
