Experience

Assistant Manager – Avery Dennison India Pvt Ltd IRC
10/14 – Present

Managerial role in team building and capacity building with key responsibility of providing technical and analytical solutions to marketing, production and new product development teams, designing SOPs for instrument & methods, method validation and authentication through Round Robin programs with global labs, instrument calibration, maintaining all instruments’ AMCs, etc.

Achievements:

• Setting-up Analytical lab with state-of-the-art instruments-GPC, SEM, FTIR, DSA, PSA, GC.

• Successfully coordinated entire workflow, managing analytical testing request inputs from Global Avery Dennison Centers

• Solving customer complaints and production issues of labels and packaging materials pertaining to print failure, ink cure through UV flexo, label die-cut, adhesive oozing from laminates, liner deep die-cut, contamination leading to reduced tack/ peel adhesion, edge-lifting of labels from end-use containers, face top coatings, etc.

• Reverse engineering of PE, PP, PVC films and paper labels for tire and pharma applications–Support to construct labels with desired properties suiting their application.

• Support in technology commercialization for low catalyst silicone formulation through exotherm reaction monitoring.

• Weathering studies for laminated and non-laminated, printed and unprinted labels as well as PVC films to study the effect on the labels following different standard methods.

• Cost benefits to company by analyzing root cause of print problems thereby refusing customers claims

Shriram Institute for Industrial Research

Assistant Scientist ‘A’ 02/12 – 10/14

Assistant Scientist ‘B’ 03/08 – 01/12

Analyst ‘B’ 11/06 – 02/08

Project Trainee/ JRF 06/05 – 10/06

Achievements:

• Scale-up synthesis of high refractive index monomeric compound via esterification, ring opening, dimerization, etc., optimization of process parameters such as time, temperature, atmosphere, reactant’s flow in solid- liquid, liquid-liquid and solid- liquid- gas phases

• For the first time in the country, developed novel metal containing nanocomposites with unique optical properties for biomedical applications such as spectacle lenses raising refractive index to 1.57. Increasing refractive index of major PC candidate from 1.49 to 1.63 by blending with polythiols.

• Successful process optimization and polymerization of acrylic formulations using Gamma radiation technology into bubble free, transparent and hard optical lenses.

• Development of recyclable nanophotocatalyst for industrial effluent treatment like organic dyes

• Derivatization of polysachharides using high pressure reactions involving solid/liquid/gas reactants

• Formulating PTFE based anti-corrosive paint formulations for marine applications
