My work involves the safe and efficient running of all engine room plant, officer of the watch on both single and double handed watches. I have been involved in all aspects of ship repair including dry docks and regularly perform engine, pump and compressor overhauls. Stock taking, and spare parts ordering. On some vessels and installations, I have been of service as a translator for Portuguese or Spanish speaking crew members. I also participate in the training of junior and new crew members.
