Project Title: Dynamic Analysis of Four Wheeler Chassis Using Finite Element Methods (FEM)
Description: In our Project, the Scorpio vehicle has been discretized by taking into account the chassis, suspension and tyres. The chassis and the axle members have been modelled as 3D beam elements with 6 Degrees of Freedom (DOF) at each node. The Suspension and Tyres have been modelled as linear springs with stiffness in the vertical direction alone. The different elements used in our modelling are MASS 21, BEAM 4 and COMBINATION 14. The Bottom points of Tyres are fully arrested except in vertical direction. The mass of engine, gear box, axles, tyres and Passenger weight has been lumped at the appropriate nodes. The number of nodes, and elements generated in the Finite Element Model generated are about 300 and 375 respectively. Dynamic behaviour of the Four Wheeler vehicle was analysed by using MODEL and HARMONIC analysis. Model Analysis is used to find different mode shapes like Bounce, Pitch, and Roll and the corresponding displacements. The change in displacement with Frequency over the entire range (0-80Hz) was found in the Harmonic Analysis. The Frequency obtained by ANSYS is compared with that obtained by considering 1-DOF model. Harmonic analysis is done to study the Dynamic behaviour and to find out the displacement and stresses. During Diploma
Project Title: Spark-Ignition and Valve-Timing of Four Stroke Petrol Engine (Live Project)
Description: Our Project under taken is about contact breaker point ignition system. The main use of this ignition system is that is serves the purpose of producing the spark that is necessary for the combustion to take place inside the cylinder. The Main components of our Project are Battery, Ignition Switch, DC motor, High tension coil, Distributor, Spark Plugs, Crank Shaft, Cam Shaft, Tappets, Push rods, Rocker Arm, Valves, Valve Springs, M.S Plate. When the ignition system is turned on the current can flow through the Primary winding breaker points, Distributor body, and M.S plate on this way to the battery. This current sets up the magnetic field inside the coil when the breaker points open the magnetic field collapses and high voltage
current is induced in the secondary winding flow to the distributor and Spark Plugs, and then returns via the M.S plate. As the Breaker points open, electricity will jump from one point to the other until the gap between too wide to jump. In the valve operation system, DC motor runs by means of a battery. The DC motor is connected to crank shaft by means of V- belt. The Crank shaft runs the cam shaft by means of chain drive. As the cam shaft rotates, the tappets which are mounted on the respective cams of the cam shaft moves the push rods up and down. These push rods actuate the Rocker arm, which in turn actuates the valve to open and close. Various Carpentry and Fitting Tools, Machinery have been used.
