PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
May 2010 – March 2016
SPARROWS GROUP LTD – ONSHORE/WELDER
Successfully completed a 4 year apprenticeship in Fabrication & Welding Engineering, (Manual Welding) discipline. Gained welder qualifications in SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and GTAW for pipe and plate work.
The main body of work which I have been involved in has been offshore cranes such as new builds to repair and maintenance, also building and welding spooling winches and hydraulic pressure unit housings all built to DNV standard. Since gaining my offshore training certificates I have worked on all types of rigs and vessels in the North Sea and Irish Sea, I’ve also done work overseas in Gibraltar and Norway.
I’ve worked for a host of different companies on a variety of different jobs during my time with Sparrows. While working offshore I have also worked closely with riggers, mechanics, hydraulic technicians and machinists and have a good understanding of what they do and how they work.
May 2009 – May 2010
ABERDEEN HYDRAULICS – APPRENTICE WELDER
I started my apprenticeship with Aberdeen Hydraulics when they were situated in Ellon, shortly after they were bought over by Sparrows Group in Aberdeen where I continued and completed my apprenticeship.
At Aberdeen Hydraulics I was given an insight into welding and fabrication and also shown how to use the machinery and tools around the workshop including lathes, pillar drills, guillotines and grinders etc.
