Employed and working as a Plant Operations Shift Engineer/Supervisor at Contourglobal Rwanda dealing in offshore Methane gas extraction from Lake Kivu and onshore thermal power generation, reporting directly to Plant Operations Manager/Plant Director
Key result areas
• Ensuring close monitoring of the demands from the dispatcher (EWSA, Rwanda’s Energy/Utility company); and ensuring that the demands are met in due time.
• Communicating with dispatching & ensuring close monitoring of the load demands & achieving times (as per request and contracts with the grid operator)

Appointed and worked as a Generator Technician/Control Room Operator at Aggreko International Power Projects Uganda generating 100MW of thermal power using LFO/diesel Cummins reciprocating engines, reporting to Plant Shift Engineer.
Key result areas
• Handling, repairing and maintenance of 1250 MVA Cummins diesel generators.
• Carrying out ‘A’ and ‘B’ services.
• Working as a Control Engineer/Operator for thermal power generation of 50MW; Starting, stopping and synchronising KTA50 1250KVA LFO Generator sets onto the national grid.
• Performing routine inspections and equipment maintenance for proper operation and availability. Assist in the start-up, operation and shutdown of mechanical and electrical equipment to meet contract and business plan requirements.
• Manually operate valves, pumps, dampers, and other equipment as necessary. Perform switching of electrical equipment up to 11kV. Perform operations to place electrical circuits and generating equipment in and out of service.
• Through the DCS system, controls, monitors, starts, stops, regulates, evaluates, performs routine maintenance, and operation of all support systems from the main control room.
• Identify abnormal operating and equipment conditions; troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment to optimize cost effectiveness while ensuring reliability.
• Maintain competency in the operations of local and remote plant facilities to ensure unplanned outages are minimized. Make recommendations to enhance plant reliability and performance.

Appointed on contract basis and worked as an Electrical Technician for Lafarge East Africa/Hima Cement Ltd Company, reporting to Electrical
Engineer.
