As part of the Finance department, the role held in Pricing is to maintain and analyse price guidance for contract and non-contract business, and to make recommendations that would facilitate optimal pricing decisions in higher management. This position required high level of logical and rational ability, as well as a certain level of confidence in one’s technical abilities to ensure the correct results are being produced. During this time he had to opportunity to get involved in several interesting and in depth projects, to which he thoroughly enjoyed contributing towards.

Key Responsibilities / Achievements:

• Provide regular and ad hoc pricing analysis and reporting for management.

• Process automation, data modelling, and improving job process efficiency through creation of tools and dashboards in various Microsoft programs, as well as Tableau and Qlikview.

• Proactively monitor product, customer, and pricing data integrity and ensure corrections occur where required.

• Validate price model updates prior to loading to ensure pricing recommendations are in line with expectations and spot issues before they are made live.

• Creation of a number of tools and dashboards using Sequel and Visual Basic, with the objective of extracting and sorting large amounts of data to be presented in a simple and accessible format, as well as with greatly reduced down time.

This position consisted of managing APPEs Purchasing Category Turnover, with the aim of delivering competitive advantage through interpreting BU Objectives, and developing/implementing robust sourcing strategies. Due to the extremely lean structure of the central purchasing team, there was the opportunity to lead and assist in a number of exciting projects, which I both enjoyed and excelled at.

Key Responsibilities / Achievements:

• Created and presented a proposal for the group packaging strategy to the director by gathering information from each site regarding the yearly spend on all packaging items .This included highlighting areas for potential saving such as potential group discounts as well as ungrouped company-wide purchases split across many suppliers, un-contracted high amounts of spend, and other forms of analysis overall highlighting significant potential savings.

• Active participation in a project aiming to change the way spare parts were purchased across the group, involving investigating the purchasing strategy used to acquire spares across multiple sites, and creating a centralised strategy grouping the spend and reducing the supplier base.

• Created SharePoint forms to gather savings data of company purchases, to be implemented as a standard monthly procedure across all nine sites. In addition, produced of a QlikView report with assistance from IT which analysed the data submitted, and categorized savings giving an overall visual detail, allowing managers and directors to identify opportunities for savings, or areas of low efficiency.

• Responsible for re-design and launch of the group’s supplier rating system, including being the point of contact to both internal and external stakeholders across various sites and suppliers.

• Redesigned and largely automated APPE’s supplier approval system, and vendor rating process.
