Plan, develop and implement construction projects to specification and budget.

Seconded to Balfour Beatty as part of an engineers’ exchange training agreement between WSP and Balfour Beatty for Northampton to Wellingborough Improvement Project. This project involved widening existing carriageways, bridge extension, constructing new lanes and drainages, utilities relocation, and junctions re-signaling. Construction cost about £10million.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate all civil and structural related issues and ensure civil and structural discipline, interdisciplinary and operational input is communicated to Contractor and reflected in specifications, data sheets and drawings.

Attend to and resolve contractor queries and provide technical guidance and expertise to ensure project goals are clearly understood to minimize delays.

Review and approve all related technical documents and advise Engineering Manager on technical issues requiring resolution.

Coordination and adherence to all HSE related issues including risk studies and the implementation of HSE into the contractors design and construction activities.

Conduct all work activities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner at all times. Comply with The Client QHS&E management system and report all incidents and near misses to H&S representative. Ensure “safe systems of work’ and “safe conditions’ are in place within area of responsibility.

Coordinate and provide civil and structural support for all Project construction activities, including the assurance that detailed and construction engineering data are available at site.

Check the preparation, issue and implementation of relevant Construction Engineering documents, by Contractor including detailed procedures, method statements, drawings, calculation notes, list of Construction Equipment, and list of personnel.

Project: Ajaokuta – Obajana Gas Pipeline

Responsibilities:

Site supervisor on the installation of 18” dia x 90km long Gas Pipeline that runs from Ajaokuta at a tie-in point from a manifold to Obajana, responsible for the organization of day to day logistics and team alignment.

Management of sub-contractors and co-ordination of alignment between the design and project teams.

Liaise with consultants, sub-contractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project.

Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site setting out, plant, materials delivery and storage.

Oversee quality control, health and safety matters on site.

Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.

Participation in progress meetings, design reviews, project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings.

Testing & commissioning of pipeline installation by administering testing & commissioning team.
