With over 100 staff, the organization team comprise of the Strategy unit, Monitoring unit, Compliance unit, Finance unit, HSE & Quality unit, HR unit, Engineering unit (design & construction), Procurement unit and IT uni
In 2019, Income Electrix Ltd was mandated by an oil & gas company (NNPC) by carry out an EPC (EPC) works and services for 20MW Gas-fired power plant in Escravos, Delta State, the contract sum is 900 million naira (about 2.9million AUD). This was after we submitted our competitive tender quota where my duties and responsibilities were to compile all electrical documents and pertinent papers regarding to detailed proposals and quotes. Then after the award of contract, I immediately initiated and conducted a field survey with a team of 4 engineers where I acted a team lead, to gather relevant load studies data while at the same time was reviewing other tender documentations such as maps and preliminary client specifications. I also supervised the technical review of design drawings and specifications and coordinate input from stakeholders such as project engineers and equipment suppliers. I was also acting as a liaison between internal partners and client with the motive to increase company profit margin by reducing unnecessary customer related costs.
We then proceeded to the conceptualization and detailed design phase where my duties and responsibilities where I conducted power-system studies, including short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash hazard analysis, load flow, dynamic stability, and harmonic analysis and power-system models using ETAP. I also assisted in the preparation of technical specifications, data sheets, electrical calculations for generators, earthing system, cable, transformer and breaker sizing and electrical panel loading. I was also closely checking all design drawings, diagrams, schematics comply with the proper IEC , IEEE and corporate engineering standards such as IEEE std 242-2001 (IEEE recommended practice for protection and control), IEEE std 399-1997 (IEEE recommended practice for industrial and commercial power systems analysis) and many more. During the construction, installation and commissioning phase, I was tasked with the responsibility of ensuring compliance with engineering drawings except on cases where there are some site constraints which require deviations or change from the actual design drawings. If this is the case, I will also ensure that the change procedure was duly followed. Having a HSE background, I also served in that capacity ensuring compliance by construction workers to laid down HSE rules such as regular toolbox meetings and the adherence to the use of PPEs. I was also reviewing and responding to technical queries from manufacturers or OEM while the project lasted. Finally, I also led the team that prepared as-built drawings for handing over to client.
In 2018, I worked with a team of 4 to deliver the electrical design for the successful construction of a 2x30MVA, 132/33 kV Transmission Substation at Ekparakwa, Akwa Ibom State and my responsibility was to create and update deliverables, equipment specification, Bill of Materials for the project and records documentation from clients and successfully trained some junior engineers and the lead document controller. I also initiated the detailed engineering design and supervision for the connection of company residence (Total Village) to Power Plant in Port Harcourt in 2017. This was also an exciting project as I had the opportunity to carry out the engineering of a 33kV distribution line and transformer installation but was later transferred to another project where I assisted a new team in technical design review, preparation of BEME for the construction of street light at Ewet estate, Uyo. –Akwa Ibom State Government. This project started in 2016. Other projects running during this year which I participated in are my successful development and implementation of the engineering design for construction of 1x15MVA, 33/11kV Transformer Injection Substation at Amukpe, Sapele, Delta State (NDDC) and lead the same team in engineering, design, review, implementation and documentation of the process for the execution of all Power Infrastructure (33/11/0.415kV Transmission Lines & Substations) for Luluama Estate, Abonnema, Rivers State in Nigeria.
