Work History
Senior Craft Vehicle Mechanic/Fitter

I joined DSG as an apprentice, twice receiving Apprentice of the Year awards from my employer, as well as a runner-up award in a national engineering contest. I subsequently progressed to become a fully skilled full-time member of the team.
The nature of the military vehicles we worked with required me to sign the Official Secrets Act and pass vigorous security checks.
As a result of my time in this role, I have worked on a wide range of vehicles, including (but not limited to) the following:
• Complete vehicle and engine strip and build
• Servicing and repair of vehicles
• Overhauling of hydraulic pumps, rams, winches and cranes, as well as repairs and fitting
• Providing similar support for fuel injectors, electric motors, gears and steering
• Upgrading and modification of vehicles to meet departmental requirements
• Testing various electronic components and air conditioning systems
• Carrying out intensive body checks on vehicles to ensure that any weaknesses or sustained damage were addressed
• Carried out roller brake testing and exhaust emission testing on vehicles
• Reacting quickly to changing requirements, and prioritising emergency breakdowns of critical vehicles over general repairs
