I was involved in Enerwhere’s off-grid projects within UAE and exposed to some projects abroad, where I performed economical & technical feasibility analysis for solar hybrid systems. My main responsibilities included:
- Benchmarking regional solar hybrid systems.
- Conducting competitive analysis of solar power generation systems, application tools and installation procedures.
- Identifying issues and providing recommendations to solve them.
- Presenting results to senior management and engineers.
One of the main projects I was involved in is a project for increasing the photovoltaic (PV) performance which involved using single axis tracking system and dust removal techniques. The technologies involved in this project were; PVsyst, Solid Works, ANSYS, C++ & Microsoft Excel. The scope of my role and responsibilities covered the design and implementation of a transportable single axis tracking system for the company’s solar projects using Solid Works for modelling, ANSYS for structural analysis and PVsyst for production simulation. I have also designed a fully transparent electro-dynamic screen that removes dust particles by charging them with high voltages. A production (functional) prototype was created by a Chinese company (partner to the university), this prototype was tested and a final report was presented.
