2013 – Present Infrastructure Consultant Cubic Transportations (Contract)

Current role is to aid Cubic to transition Tfl Ticketing Programme infrastructure to their operational teams for future support. Also tasked to implement infrastructure to support 3-D Secure technology.

• Migration of Cubic’s Xenapp 4.5 Citrix farms (x 3) to Xenapp 6.5 with dual site resilience.

• Upgraded Cubic’s PCI VMware environment from 4.0 to 5.1 including configuration of SSO.

• Migration of Hyper-V virtual guests to VMware infrastructure

• Migrated Cubic’s internal systems to Windows 2012 clustered DHCP services.

• Designed and implemented windows based 3-D secure payment systems to support Tfl’s new Oyster platform. This infrastructure conformed to PCI requirements and was sanctioned by a QSA.

• Ensured the smooth transition of Tfl’s Future Ticketing infrastructure, which include training on SAN technologies, EMC VMax management, Blade technology, infrastructure roles and services.

• Complete single site infrastructure re-deployment\refresh of Tfl’s Oyster system

• DR testing of Tfl’s Oyster system including testing backup recovery procedures.

2010 – 2013 Infrastructure Consultant Transport for London (Contract)

Current assignment is to work with TFL’s Future Ticketing Programme, to implement TFL’s next generation billing and payments platform (Oyster) which will collect £3.5B in revenues. As part of a small technical team, my responsibility was the build of a new dual resilient platform.

• Configuration and implementation of ESXi 5.1 (incorporating many vSphere features such as SSO, dvSwitches, host profiles etc)

• Configuration of Cisco MDS fibre switches (9124 & 9148) which included the configuration of NPV ports, F_Ports, aliases, VSANS & zoning.

• EMC VMax full configuration and management which included creation of storage pools, initiator groups, TDevs, Masking and presentation to host level.

• Automated server build via Altiris (HP Rapid Deployment Pack)

• HP c7000 Blade Enclosures configuration, including configuration of Flex-10 networking technology (802.1q vLAN trunking)

• Microsoft 2008 Core and Window 2008 Clustering

Completed project (ELM) Estate Lifecycle Management

• Project Management of Multiple Migration projects from different areas within the business, including relocation of data centre hardware, migration of services to the target enterprise windows platform from legacy environments. This includes creating implementation plans to put forward to change advisory boards, and ensuring that SLA’s are not breached during these changes.

• Responsible for the delivery of patching solutions for Wintel environments, and ensuring detailed processes are documented and handed over to operational teams.

2001 To 2010 Senior Infrastructure Consultant Virgin Media

Completed DCT, ATOS & IT6 consolidation, migration & decommission programme for Virgin Media & Virgin Mobile. The objective of this programme was to bring all infrastructure services into two core datacentres (South and North). Virgin Media has around 180 non-core sites plus a number of datacentres which all have Wintel managed services and hardware. The total Wintel server count was around 2200 servers which sat on a large number of domains, all of which were different windows flavours (NT4 to Windows 2003 r2) and ranged from HP, IBM & Dell hardware.

• Domain & service consolidation – Telewest ,ntl: & IBM

• Implementation of first VMware VSphere farm on HP Blade technology

• Implementation of SQL2005 multi node cluster with mirroring.

• P2V of physical servers and application re-platform into ESX farms.

• New active directory forests, DNS Servers, DHCP Server, print servers, Exchange, SMS, MOM, DFS, etc created

The Harmony programme was one of the largest online billing consolidation projects in Europe covering bespoke Billing applications, BizTalk for business process management, e-Business solutions, Data warehouses, CRM and large SQL databases. The program covered a wide range of systems and processes with over 600 on the payroll. The aim to migrate 4.9 million accounts from legacy systems into a single common platform.

Part of a team of 9, I supported a major billing systems integration programme consolidating 8 billing and 28 CRM systems to an in-house platform based on Microsoft technologies. I was involved in the day to day technical management of 1000+ servers hosting a billing platform which produces 400k+ bills per month and bills in access of £820m per year through to Virgin Media’s Internet platforms, which host online registration and CRM services for ntlworld.com, Tesco.net, Virgin.net, Which.net and AOL.

• Managed large scale MS SQL Databases

• Managed a large scale BizTalk implementation used to service provision ntl’s Internet, Telco, DTV and CATV customers.

• Ongoing project to consolidate MS server platform to VMware ESX servers.

• Managed 130 terabytes of HP EVA SAN Storage which included Continuous Access to ensure business continuity on critical applications

1999 To 2001 3rd Server Support Viatel Global Communications

Responsible for providing support on LAN/WAN, Desktop and server BackOffice services to over 1000 users across Europe on 150+ NT servers.

• Implemented a European wide NT Network infrastructure.

• Rolling out customer care and billing platforms based on NT into Europe offices.

• 24/7 Operational support of Viatel’s back office server infrastructure.

1997 To 1991 2rd Line Support AT&T

Support around 6000+ internal staff in the UK and across Europe.

• Sole local support of two offices consisting of senior management.

1996 To 1997 2nd Line Support EDS

Sub contracted to British Petroleum my main responsibilities where to support around 3000+ internal/external staff in Head office on all desktop issues.
