Supervising pan attendants/ junior pan operators to operate the right valves, gutters
and pumps.
Studying the pan log books and checking the physical stock levels in the pans,
crystallisers, tanks, and the running parameters; vacuum in the pans, steam/ vapour
pressure and temperature.
Checking steam out and testing the pans for any leakages before starting any boiling
cycle.
Checking and ascertaining that the receiver crystallisers have adequate capacity to
receive the massecuites and that the gutters are free before discharging the
massecuites in order to avoid overflows.
