Midwife - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
• Providing round-the-clock care to premature and ill newborn infants
• Caring for the basic needs of neonates like feeding and changing diapers
• Performing medical procedures such as siting intravenous lines
• Providing infant CPR where necessary

• Monitoring vital signs
• Assisting mothers in kangaroo mother care
Antenatal Care Unit
• Registration and history taking of the pregnant woman and ensured confidentiality
of information given.
• Systematically examined the pregnant woman to detect any abnormalities peculiar
to pregnancy
• Educated pregnant women on important health topics such as nutritional support,
birth preparedness and complication readiness, danger signs in pregnancy, rest and
sleep and personal hygiene
• Ensured patient was counselled and tested for HIV, Protected from malaria
through the use of insecticide-treated nets and intermittent presumptive treatment
in pregnancy as well as prevention of tetanus.
Provided care and support to women and their partners during all stages of
pregnancy, including delivery of newborn, labour and early puerperium.
• Provided comprehensive physical exams on the pregnant woman to determine
normal and abnormal health states
• Scrubbed for caesarean sections
• Provided proper training and education in breastfeeding
• Adhered to facility policy and procedures, maintained patient confidentiality and
practiced quality patient care
• Administered medications such as oral, intramuscular, intravascular and
subcutaneous as ordered by physician and monitored vital signs.
