August 2012 to Present. Group Purchasing Director. Aspern Healthcare Limited.
Promoted following the sale of Claremont Hospital (see below) to Aspern and currently accountable directly to the company CEO with responsibility for a spending remit in excess of £100 million including the procurement function for eight UK hospital sites and a London based Head Office.
In addition, carries responsibility for full company contract management and has key strategic input into the task of delivering an uncapped investment for UK growth and expansion specified by the company’s US based owners, WCAS.
Also deals with all Capex, Direct and Indirect Services, Medical Consumable Contracts alongside procurement for the company’s IT and Building Services Departments.
January 2011 to August 2012. Commercial Director. Claremont Hospital. Sheffield.
A key post with specific responsibility for a budget of £15 million covering IT, Purchasing and Commercial Development.
Also set-up nine PCT funded Practice Outreach Clinics across the north of England enabling the hospital to achieve 20% annual growth on both income and profit.
January 2010 to January 2011. Group Purchasing Manager. Hospital Management Trust Limited. Sheffield.
Held complete responsibility for the Procurement element of an organisation with a portfolio of seven care homes and hospitals with a total of 348 beds.
Successfully managed a budget of £25 million per annum and a team of staff, including Store Managers, Buyers and Stock Controllers across multiple hospital sites, as well as strategically developing all of the department’s KPIs, long term plans and objectives.
Achieved significant cost savings through conducting first hand negotiations and contract management of high value purchases.
July 2008 to January 2010. Head of Imports. eBuyer UK Limited. Howden.
Working for one of the largest internet resellers of brand name computer technology retailing over 100,000 products and a turnover of £300 million per annum and in charge of the management of the company’s foreign sourced value brand product category.
A key part of the role involved regular travel to China to meet new and existing suppliers and the gaining of a high level of knowledge of dealing with Chinese markets including, for example, a full understanding of Customs procedures and Tariff codes and Chinese manufacturing processes.
Also managed a China based Quality Control office operating in conjunction with a UK team of Quality Control professionals to ensure that all aspects of the shipping of goods between the two countries were correctly administered.
