Projects Manager
Key Responsibilities
• Maximise utilisation of in-house labour for design, programming, testing and production line installation
• Remove production labour through automation
• Deliver innovations to offer customers significant advantages over competition
• Minimise all CapEx spends without compromising project specification
To achieve these objectives the vast majority of the design (both conceptual and technical), prototyping, programming, testing and assembly, were completed by myself. Learning new pieces of software and configuring new hardware was essential, only utilising contractors to obtain new skills or during large scale installations.
Key Projects
2010 – 2014 Preform Inspection Systems
o In-house turnkey solution including 3D CAD design, PLC and vision programming, assembly, testing, CE Marking and installation
o Incremental performance improvements in line speed (3-6 parts/second) and range of inspections (3 Cameras – 6 Cameras) across each iteration
o Systems are extremely versatile, run in-line with injection machines, offline for resorting and size change for all parts and colours in product range
o 4 Systems built with £200k total saving compared to comparable OEM Systems
o 400 million parts inspected to date with no quality complaints on any line
2013 – 2014 Plex Management System
o Specification, programming and integration of Maintenance, Tooling and Production Line Status packages
o Implementation of wireless tablets for Engineers and Operators, maximising communication across all shifts and minimising time to access technical data
o Saving in lost time £200k / yr and £40k in hardware and programming
2011 Closures Re-Development
o In-house designed integrated printing, inspection and packing solutions
o £140k saving / yr in manning and storage of finished product. £60k saving on Vision System builds compared to comparable OEM Systems
o 1.7 billion parts inspected to date with no quality complaints on either line
2010 and 2014 Blowing Re-Development
o In-house designed solution for automated pallet out-feed (2010) and a bottling, robotic palletising and wrapping line to integrate with the aforementioned (2014)
o Automated pallet out-feed manning saving of £100k / yr
o Robotics cell mould changeover saving of £185k / yr in labour and downtime
Dec 2006 – Aug 2009 – Ideas2Develop Ltd (Subsidiary of AESSEAL plc)
Product Development Engineer
Key Responsibilities
• Turnkey in-house 3D CAD design, prototyping and testing
• Patent analysis of existing IP relevant to each project
• Producing new Patent Applications to be sold to external companies
• Creation of sales literature and presentations
Largely working autonomously to achieve overall objectives resulted in developing a strong range of technical and commercial skills.
Key Project
2007-2009 Stackabox for First4boxes Ltd
o Turnkey IP, design, prototyping, testing and presentation services for an innovative returnable transportation and dispensing system aimed at the Preforms and Closures market
o Presentations and onsite product trails for prestigious companies including Constar International, Coca Cola Hellenic, Coca Cola Enterprises and Royal Mail
o IP was sold to DS Smith Replen and is now produced in the UK and sold globally

• Generating work lists to ensure over 1 million GCSE exam papers requiring remarking were completed inside a 3 month period
