Core Objectives |
Responsibility for management and supervision of maintenance, gardening and domestic team on the estate to required standards, obtaining maximum productivity, efficiency, quality, service and upholding all aspects of compliance and quality standards and adhering to budget and required criteria.
You will be responsible for a team which will carry out skilled and general maintenance, gardening and domestic duties and be involved in all aspects of estate management.
You will have a diverse range of tasks which will include managing your team to keep the estate generally well run and maintained and maintaining safety and security on the estate.
This will include regular checks and assessments for maintenance, health and safety and security and liaising with Line Manager, ensuring jobs are performed as they are required. |
Main Tasks/Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibility to staff and direct the team:
– to manage the overall day to day maintenance of all aspects of the estate, including maintenance, gardening and domestic duties and managing the team which performs these roles – overall responsibility for safety and security of estate – – overall responsibility for maintenance to agreed standards – overall responsibility for gardening to agreed standards – overall responsibility for domestic duties to agreed standards – overall responsibility for general running and upkeep of estate to required standards – to manage and maintain general cleanliness in the estate – to manage and maintain supplies – liaise with external suppliers/contractors – adhere to allocated budgets and maintain applicable quality standards and records – for ensuring sufficient team members at all times and within budget – quality control of all aspects of estate including security and health and safety – assist your Line Manager – meet your targets and those of the team as a whole – contribute towards the efficient running of the estate – training and development of the estate team – adhere to statutory obligations and quality and best practice guidelines – understand all aspects of estate management services and train your team to enable them to confidently and confidentially deal with all aspects of their roles – manage estate expectations and deal with all queries
Day to day responsibilities – manage the day to day running of all aspects of the estate – manage the day to day security and safety aspects of the estate – manage day to day care and maintenance of gardens and estate buildings – manage routine domestic duties and general cleanliness in the estate – manage safety and security of estate – key holder duties and liaising with security team – ensure that someone is in residence on the estate at all times – to manage and maintain required standards – to provide knowledge input and advice relating to all aspects of the estate management – to carry out an agreed annual programme of maintenance work in order to maintain the estate to the required standard – regularly inspect any structures – ensuring essential repairs, replacements are carried out as part of the maintenance programme – ensure that tasks are planned and carried out in accordance with requirements, to applicable standards and within prescribed time limits – ensure compliance to applicable codes, procedures and legislation including health and safety – maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work – report to Line Manager -immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the estate and/or its visitors, clients/customers to Line Manager – meet your targets and contribute to those of the estate team as a whole – contribute towards the efficient running of the estate team – adhere to all estate policies and procedures – identify hazards, defects; to ensure compliance with applicable codes, law, working practices and health and safety – manage absences and allocate staffing and workloads of estate team members – supervise, manage and direct the overall performance of the estate team – subject to agreed criteria, recruitment, training, set action and targets, appraise and manage performance, development, coaching and general support of all team members to ensure targets are met – maintaining accurate records and accounts as required and reporting as agreed – set an example for estate team members of commitment, work ethic and habits and personal character – responsibly use resources and control expenses to operate within budgetary controls – adhere to all estate policies and procedures

From time to time you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role. You are responsible for your allocated workload and must meet all targets as agreed with your Line Manager. You must contribute towards the smooth running of the estate generally. |
Hours |
Your usual hours will be from 8am to 4pm. However you will be expected to work as and when necessary to meet the needs of the team and your targets.
Insert following if applicable Your job will involve travel to sites within the agreed area. The agreed area is insert e.g. 20 mile radius, county etc |
Secondary Tasks/Duties

The role is part of the whole estate team and as such requires you to perform such reasonable tasks that are required, as and when necessary, to maintain, promote, develop and expand the business of our estate and its interests generally.
You must carry out your duties to the best of your ability, having consideration for the needs of your colleagues and the estate and its clients/customers. You must obey all lawful and reasonable orders given to you and comply with the estate’s rules, procedures and policies

Equipment You are responsible for the equipment provided to you for use in your job role. This means you must ensure that equipment is used in accordance with training provided, all of the estate’s policies and procedures and the law and using, where applicable, any safety equipment or Personal Protective Equipment provided. You are responsible for ensuring that the equipment you use is maintained and can be used/operated at all times.

Essential Abilities/ Competencies of this job role |
You need
– to have achieved the qualifications insert as applicable – to hold the following additional certificates insert as applicable – experience in this type of job role – insert as applicable e.g. minimum 2 years – requisite knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the environment – practical knowledge of building maintenance – practical knowledge of plants plus experience of using general garden machinery. – to demonstrate knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations – skills in general estate maintenance and gardening – ability and willingness to share knowledge – leadership with ability to manage and develop a team – genuine desire to serve the needs of others with a strong personal responsibility for achieving customer satisfaction – excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills – high integrity and honesty in all dealings – project management skills – to be friendly and approachable – to understand and deliver good customer service – good attention to detail – ability to work under pressure – a full driving licence insert anything else required e.g. practical experience of a particular type of gardening, landscape or building such as Stately Home etc
You need to have and maintain (with regular training and updates as necessary) the knowledge, technical skills and qualifications that are necessary to perform your job role to comply with the requirements of the estate and any applicable rules, regulations (particularly of any professional body) and with any law which applies to your job role.

You may be expected to work in accordance with the estate’s overtime policies
The nature of your role will require you to travel within the area that your team covers. However, from time to time you may be expected to travel outside that area as the job role requires.
