The UK’s jobs market is showing optimism as the recession loosens its grip and more vacancies become available, one expert has said.
Phil Flaxton, chief executive at Work Wise UK, said that there is likely to be more confidence among employers in the coming months as they seek to take on skilled workers capable of turning around the company’s fortunes.
“There are a lot of organisations who feel that, although we have got a long way to go, we are turning a corner,” he explained.
The specialist added that a major difference between this recession and previous ones is that firms have been working much harder to retain skilled staff who can help to turn things around once the economic situation improves.
Mr Flaxton’s comments come after a report by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG revealed that the growth of permanent work placements in December accelerated faster than at any time since July 2007.
